The Farm was born from the will of the Icardi Brothers to give continuity to the family history. The Vecchia Volpe name is a fancy name, which means Old Fox. The farm is located on a hill in Valdivilla, a fraction of Santo Stefano Belbo, considered among the most excellent expressions of the territory to produce high quality Moscato. Currently about 3,000 bottles of Moscato d'Asti DOCG are produced from selected grapes. The altitude is 380-400 mt, the soil is clayey, the exposure is perfect: south-east. Inside the vineyards some "wild" peach trees have grown, which give to the ground the aromas that can be found "then" in the Moscato tasting. At the beginning of the last century the company was managed by Giusepin, who then passed the witness to his son Adelino (the grandfather of the current brothers). He began to implant the first Moscato vineyards around the 1950s, when the grapes were sold to wine producers. In 2013 the brothers decided to create vinification with the collaborations of La Morandina in Castiglione Tinella.
Grapes: 100% white Moscato.
Area of origin: Santo Stefano Belbo, Valdivilla, at about 400 m a.s.l. South-east exposure.
Surface area: 3 hectares.
Vinification: natural fermentation in stainless steel tanks for 1 month in order to get a rich and persistent “prise de mousse”.
Colour: light yellow with green hues. Fine perlage.
Bouquet: fresh and fragrant, with hints of orange blossom, litchi, gardenia and aromatic herbs like lemon balm.
Taste: similar to the aroma, slightly sparkling with low acidity, fresh and flavoursome, notes of mint and sage on the finish. This wine is typical of its grape variety.
Alcoholic content: 5,5% vol.
Food pairings: considering that Moscato is from the same production area of “Langhe” Hazelnuts variety, it is a must to pair it with hazelnut biscuits or the classic Torta di Langa. Pleasant in the summer with a fruit salad of peaches and strawberries
